A corona virus novena of prayer

A corona virus novena of prayer

( A novena is a Christian devotion of special prayers set for nine successive days. As we approach Holy Week, why not use these prayers from tomorrow Saturday, daily right through until Easter Sunday)

While we face the coronavirus  pandemic, let us turn to the face of God in prayer, and ask for his healing, his help and his protection. We pray for all who are affected, for all who are sick and suffering, for all those who work in the medical profession, and for those who have died, as well as for their grieving family members

In the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen

Keep us good Lord, under the shadow of your mercy in this time of uncertainty and distress. Sustain and support the anxious and fearful, and lift up all who are brought low; that we may rejoice in your comfort knowing that nothing can separate us from your love in  Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen

Father in heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world. We come to you today with our fears and concerns- You know what’s in our hearts. We love you, trust you, we need you. We ask you to be with us. Stay with us. Help us through these times of uncertainty and sorrow.

We know you are the Divine Physician, the healer of all. And so we ask that you bring your loving and healing presence to all those who are sick and suffering right now. Please comfort them.

Please be with the grieving families of those who have passed away. Please have mercy on those who have died, may they be with you in heaven

Please stand at the side of all medical and care professionals who are putting themselves at risk while they work and bring healing to others. Please guide or government, and those who advise them.

Lord we are scared, and we are sorrowful. Please heal us and send us your peace

The Lord’s prayer

Jesus, we thirst for you. You chose to enter this world as a vulnerable baby. Be with the most vulnerable now. Help us to continue to return to you with our whole hearts throughout this ordeal.

O God the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong nothing is holy, increase and multiply upon us your mercy, that with you  as our guide, we may so pass through things temporal that we loose not our hold on things eternal, through Jesus Christ Our Lord.  Amen

And may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all  Amen
